So.... I'm new to this

This is my first ever blog!!! eek! Kind of nervous/excited about it. I don't know if anyone will ever read it or not... but I'm excited to try something new for a change and branch out.
I actually got the idea earlier today from my pesky younger sister, Mataya. She made me feel guilty for posting such long paragraphs for all of my captions on Instagram!! I replied, "Well, I just have so much knowledge....DUH". I instantly felt a little embarrassed though, and suddenly got worried that everyone else might secretly be thinking the same thing.... (come on we all have those moments right?!) - Sometimes it's crazy how we let the way others see us define who we are or control what we do in our lives. We get so wrapped up in what the media says we should be doing or thinking instead of just being our own person. I know for me, I have to constantly remind myself daily to just be present in my own life and stop worrying about what others are doing with theirs.
I think one of the biggest flaws with social media these days is the ability we have as individuals to make ourselves appear to be the best version of ourselves at all times. I mean, come on, who doesn't love posting the pictures where our teeth look super white or our skin looks extra tan or our ab definition is on point that day?! I know I'm guilty!!! We all do that!! But the reality is that none of us are perfect, and quite frankly, most of us aren't the best version of ourselves 24/7 either. In fact, it's our dark days or our side with flaws that actually makes the better version that much better right? Without our flaws, our better version of ourselves wouldn't be so great. Without our flaws, we wouldn't learn from our mistakes. Without our flaws, we wouldn't understand the value of hard work to push through the tough times. So my goal in starting this blog is not to sugar coat everything and make my life (or life in general) seem perfect, but to just be real with you all about it all, the good and the bad.
That being said, I'm getting my butt outside to enjoy this beautiful day! Have a great weekend everyone, stay safe and be happy :)
